Intake Manifold, Edelbrock vs Typhoon

I was looking into an intake manifold and have my decision cut down to two, an edelbrock with fuel rails and custom spacer plate or a typhoon (polished from professional products). which one do you guys think I should go with and why?

Re: Intake Manifold, Edelbrock vs Typhoon

the typhoon sucks, and the edelbrock is only worth it if you plan to rev to atleast 7k or higher.

i have the edelbrock, and with a good set of cams it will make good power! i shift a 7k tho

Re: Intake Manifold, Edelbrock vs Typhoon

I ran the edelbrock and liked it. If you go with the typhoon i would just keep the stock setup. It all depends on what you want to do with the motor high rev, forced induction. That is the only two reason i would run the edelbrock intake. I have a complete bolt on intake set up thet i will be selling. I just need to figure out the asking price. i have the intake, 6061 elbow, spacer, and the fuel rail adaptors to go to the stock lines.

Re: Intake Manifold, Edelbrock vs Typhoon

Thanks for the input everybody!

I have a ton of mods but no supercharger or turbo yet but I don't know if/when/or what i would like to add in the future as far as a power adder would be if i even do go with one. I street race the car if anything.

So you guys would recromend I go with the edelbrock setup with the spacer and fuel rails over the typhoon? The typhoon is very purty lookin but im going for performance.

As far as revving high I do drive the car quite often and can be considered a daily driver, but I do have 4.10s and fly through gears and when I'm on the street racing I do like to get a fairly high shift.

Let me know when you figure out a price I would be interested in that setup for my car. Been wanting to get a edelbrock setup.

Re: Intake Manifold, Edelbrock vs Typhoon

Ive been reading up on those intakes. The edelbrock one seems to have the slighter edge. It's cheaper and the performance is about the same between the two.

intake $300
rails $100
6061 plenuim $225

and i paid $175 for all the fittings, adapters, lines, and MMR regualtor for my return system, and $30 for a autometer fuel pressure gauge to set the fuel pressure...

dont run the adapter plate with a stock style plenuim, it does not work good at all!! trust me i did it for a while!

Re: Intake Manifold, Edelbrock vs Typhoon

I went with the edelbrock I felt a difference over the stock intake and it looks sick with the 6061 elbow its a must I think and I'm running stock cams. Would would probly see more of a difference if u had difference cams but don't let that keep u from getting the intake.

Re: Intake Manifold, Edelbrock vs Typhoon

I think u are more than likly going to have to get a spacer to be able to mount that pleunm to that intake that y we said u should get the 6061 elbow. Brandon I think had that setup for awhile untill he got the elbow

Re: Intake Manifold, Edelbrock vs Typhoon

Ya it works, I mean better than stock but a good set of cams wouldn't hurt. If your just wanting to put that intake on a car that's stock I mean I don't think there is going to be a big gain for ya in my opinion.

Re: Intake Manifold, Edelbrock vs Typhoon

Well I don't think u are going to see the performance gain u are hopeing to see. Unless u plan on doing other mods like cams or heads in the near future or your plastic manifold is shot I would wait. That's just my 2 cents

Re: Intake Manifold, Edelbrock vs Typhoon

how much does a setup like this usually go for? The intake, spacer and fuel rails? Also if buying the fuel rails used, how can you make sure everything is tip top?
